How is an admission aggregate calculated in Pakistan?
Updated 2026-11-04
The short answer
An aggregate is a weighted average of your percentages. Each part (Matric, Inter and the entry test) is turned into a percentage, multiplied by the weight the institution gives it, and the results are added. If Matric counts 10%, Inter 40% and the test 50%, an aggregate of 85% might come from 90% in Matric, 88% in Inter and 82% in the test: 9 + 35.2 + 41 = 85.2.
Weights differ a lot. Medical colleges give the MDCAT about half the aggregate; NUST gives its NET three quarters. That is why the same student can have very different aggregates for different universities.
Rules that change the number
Totals: boards mark out of different totals (1100, 1200 and so on). Always enter your own total; the percentage is what matters.
Part-I marks: some universities use FSc Part-I (or your best available marks) when the full result isn’t out yet, then recompute when it is.
Extra marks: a few formulas add marks for Hafiz-e-Quran candidates. Where the official notice says so, the calculator shows a checkbox.
Rounding: merit lists are usually published to three or four decimals. Our calculators show four.
