Good to know
- Exact formula: A = (Matric/4 + Inter + additional marks)/(MatricTotal/4 + InterTotal). Aggregate = 75×A + 25×(test %). Departments with 100% academic weightage use 100×A. Provisional applicants (Part-II result awaited) use Intermediate Part-I obtained and total marks. 2 marks are deducted from the percent academic marks (out of 100) for each late session/year, up to 5 years. Age limit 24 for regular BS (none for self-supporting/evening/replica). The entry test is mandatory, but reserved-seat candidates (foreign/overseas children/GB/AJK/Sindh/Balochistan/ex-FATA) and blind candidates are exempt. Engineering programs need E-CAT/PU-E/PU-M/PU-CSP/NUST test per PEC rules, with their own criteria in the Regulations Book. BS 5th semester uses formula B = (Matric/4 + Inter/5 + BA/BSc/ADP + additional)/totals, usually 70% or 100% academic.
- The calculator uses PU’s exact academic formula, so it stays right when your Matric and Inter totals differ.
- The weightage (75/25 vs 100% academic) and additional marks vary by department. Check the department's entry in the Regulations Book.
- Hafiz-e-Quran: up to 20 extra marks (20 marks added to 'marks earned' in the numerator of A (the denominator is unchanged). Needs a certificate, and the Departmental Admission Committee interviews the candidate. Other department-specific 'additional marks' (elective 20, optional 10, diploma 20, etc.) apply only where a department lists them.). Not included in the calculator because the amount is decided case by case.
Worked example
Matric / SSC: 1000/1100 = 90.91% × 15% = 13.6364; FSc / HSSC: 990/1100 = 90% × 60% = 54; PU Admission Test: 70/100 = 70% × 25% = 17.5. Aggregate = 85.1364%.
